Monash Mayor Joins Premier In Harmony Walk

Mayor Paul Klisaris will join the Victorian Government's Harmony Walk to reaffirm Monash's strong support for multiculturalism.
Mayor Klisaris said that the Harmony Walk on 12 July is a great way for all residents to show support for our culturally, linguistically and religiously diverse community and recognise the contributions our diverse ethnic communities have made to our multicultural society. .
"Over 39% of Monash's residents were born in 30 different countries. I am proud to represent the City of Monash in the Harmony Walk to show our appreciation and commitment to multiculturalism and our respect for diversity, which has so enriched our own community," said Cr Klisaris.
- 39.8% of Monash residents were born overseas
- 76% of residents follow 30 different religions
- 33% of residents speak a language other than English at home, with more than 30 different languages and dialects spoken
- 48.6% of residents in Clayton and Notting Hill were born overseas, the highest concentration in Monash.
"This is a fantastic way to celebrate and promote the rich cultural diversity of Monash and I would like to invite all residents to join in walking with me to support this celebration of multiculturalism," said Mayor Klisaris.
Council will be providing free transportation to the Harmony Walk.
