Leadership Opportunity for Local People with a Disability
4 August 2009
The City of Monash MetroAccess Initiative is looking for expressions of interest from motivated residents with a disability who are interested in participating in the 2010 Leadership Plus Leadership Program.
Last year, Council sponsored Melanie Heazlewood who said that she found the benefits and rewards of the program highly valuable.
"I learned how to negotiate, improve my social skills and recognise when to step back and when to step forward to get my ideas across. It's an incredible program and I highly recommend it," said Melanie.
Monash Mayor, Paul Klisaris said the Leadership Program seeks candidates from diverse backgrounds who are active in the community and passionate about making a difference.
"We're looking for people who want to make a difference and want to learn how to lead with distinction. This program is practical, creative and has a strong focus on developing leadership capacities that can be exercised in the community, government or business," said Cr Klisaris.
It is not necessary that candidates be in paid employment, as candidates who are active within the community sector are also strongly encouraged to apply.
The program offers participants the opportunity to talk to a cross-section of today's leaders to hear their frank opinions and concerns and to learn from their expertise.
To register your interest please contact Emma Cramer by 31 August on 9518 3637 or TTY: 9518 3655, SMS 0419 379 886 or email emmac@monash.vic.gov.au.
Council's MetroAccess Community Development Officer is available to assist interested people to apply.
