Careers In The Music Industry
10 August 2009
Monash Youth and Family Services (MYFS) is calling on all young people who want to rock the world by embarking on a career in the music industry.
Monash Mayor Paul Klisaris said that the Music Careers Night will give young people the opportunity to hear from those who have already made it in the industry, including musicians, managers and promoters.
"It's a great way for young people to get practical and valuable inside knowledge of how the music industry works from the experts and to find out about educational options that can prepare them for their careers," said Cr Klisaris.
Presenters include Behind Crimson Eyes bassist Grant Buchanan and Blue King Brown band founder, bassist and manager Carlo Santone.
Holmesglen TAFE, Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT), Box Hill TAFE and JMC Academy will also have representatives on hand to advise participants on educational paths towards a career in the music industry.
The Youth Music Industry and Careers Night will be held in the Clayton Community Centre Theatrette on 26 August from 7 to 9pm.
This is a free event funded through the Victorian Government's FReeZA Program and Monash City Council, however bookings are essential due to limited places.
To reserve a seat, phone Brett or Nick on 9518 3900 or visit www.myfs.org.au for online registration.
