Monash Libraries Spring Into Gardening
17 August 2009
Winter is coming to an end and springtime buds are beginning to burst into bloom in gardens across Monash.
To herald the start of Spring, Monash Libraries will present a series of sustainability and gardening workshops throughout the months of September and October.
Jane Edmanson of the ABC Television's 'Gardening Australia' and 3AW will present the 'Vegies - Grow Your Own' program, and Jennifer Stackhouse, editor of Gardening Australia Magazine will also share spring gardening tips.
Mayor Paul Klisaris said that attending the workshops is a great way to get new gardening information and expert advise for a beautiful and sustainable garden.
"Vegetable gardening is one of the biggest trends in 2009 with some suppliers quoting a 20% increase in the sales of seeds and punnets. It's fun, healthy and economical for the whole family," said Cr Klisaris.
There will also be a pottery demonstration and discussion on water saving pots with Jenny Holden from Monash Short Courses and a sustainable gardening workshop with Monash Council's greenest thumb, Joe Lunardello, Recycling and Disposal Manager.
