Victorian Planning Minister, Justin Madden today announced a $172,700 development study for the publicly owned land in the Glen Waverley North West Precinct.
Minister Madden said, "Glen Waverley is a vital and exciting centre and this report is the first step in a project that will be further developed with the community in the coming years to maintain the liveability and amenity of the area as an activity centre."
Monash Mayor Paul Klisaris welcomed the funding announcement and said the study would help shape the future direction of the area, which is expected to feature retail, commercial and residential development.
"Council has recently instigated significant changes affecting the Precinct which will allow for the redevelopment of the land immediately to the east of the Glen Waverley railway station as an eight storey mixed use building. This study is all about preparing Glen Waverley for the future," said Cr Klisaris.
Glen Waverley has an extensive range of goods and services, easy access to public transport and is recognised as a major social focus for the City of Monash and for the south eastern region.
Monash Council will liaise with VicTrack, Department of Planning and Community Development and the Department of Transport to prepare the Development Options Report.
