Gallery Director Resigns
Jason Smith, the Director of Monash Gallery of Art, has resigned to take up the Directorship of the prestigious Heide Museum of Modern Art.
Mr Smith praised the "support of the MGA's outstanding staff" and was grateful for the opportunities his short term at the helm have presented.
"I would like to formally acknowledge the staff's dedicated work and total commitment to MGA. I have a deep and abiding respect for MGA and its reputation as a leading art museum," said Mr Smith.
The Monash Gallery of Art is recognised as one of Australia's leading public galleries and attracts around 80,000 visitors a year. The Gallery's permanent collection of Australian photography comprises over 2,000 works and it presents around 25 national and touring exhibitions annually.
