The Leadership Plus Leadership Program

The Disability Consultative Committee on behalf of Monash Council would like to sponsor a person with a disability living in the Monash municipality to complete the 2007 Leadership Plus Leadership Program.

The Leadership Plus Leadership Program accepts participants with a range of disabilities who can demonstrate through a selection process that they have leadership potential. Candidates are sought from a wide range of backgrounds (eg. business, public sector, rural, arts, unions, volunteers). It is not necessary for candidates to be in paid employment. Candidates who are active within the community sector are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Program offers participants the opportunity to talk to a cross-section of today's leaders, to hear their frank opinions and concerns and learn from their experiences. It allows participants to meet, exchange ideas and work together at regular intervals through an action packed year. The program is accredited through the TAFE sector.

Candidates should demonstrate:
  • Leadership achievements that show a positive impact on the broad community, business, environment and/or cultural sectors;
  • Connections they have made between individuals with disabilities and others in the community;
  • A positive vision for Australian/Victorian society that has a place for people with disabilities and leaders with a disability;
  • Potential to contribute at a national, state or regional level.
Candidates should be ready to accept a time commitment of:
  • A 3-day residential seminar in February 2007;
  • Nine 2-day seminars in 2007, from March to November inclusive. Seminars will be conducted on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

 Please phone Sue Brown to register your interest on 9518 3637, or click here to send an email by 21 July 2006.

Council's MetroAccess Community Development Officer is available to assist interested people to apply.
