Hard Rubbish and Green Waste Collection 2006
Council's Annual Collection of Hard Rubbish and Green Waste has commenced in the South East of the municipality and will work its way throughout the City.
This brochure will be delivered approximately 2 weeks prior to the collection week. The collection will take place the week of the date indicated on the brochure. If your neighbours have material out for collection and you have not received a brochure, please contact Council to confirm dates.
- Empty paint tins (with no lids), scrap iron and other waste metal products
- Sinks, wash basins and chinaware
- Household items such as furniture and mattresses
- Refrigerators, stoves, washing machines and other electrical appliances
- Window glass and mirrors, providing they are securely wrapped
- Tools and equipment, mowers, and engine parts
- Car parts, providing they weigh less than 50kg and do not exceed 1.5m in length, and
- Fences, stacked neatly and nails flattened
All items for collection must be placed out on the nature strip, be no more than 1.5m in length and be able to be lifted shoulder height by two persons.
Please ensure that medicine cabinets and tablet containers are emptied, and that doors on refrigerators and freezers are removed before placing these items out for collection.
Garden Waste to be Collected Includes:- Prunings less than 1.5m (5ft) in length and 150mm (6") in diameter, and tied in bundles with string, rope or twine but NOT WIRE and must be able to be lifted by one person.
- Garden waste, tree prunings, branches, leaves and grass clippings. To help maximise recycling, please place garden waste in non-returnable cardboard cartons or wooden boxes. Rubbish bins (not wheelie bins) may be used. They will be left on the nature strip after collection. Green waste in plastic bags will not be collected.
- Tree stumps/roots are acceptable but must be able to be lifted by two people.
- Household waste
- Food and animal waste
- Decomposing or offensive material
- Waste from industrial or commercial premises
- Rubbish from the erection, renovation or demolition of buildings, including bricks, concrete, rubble and excavation material
- Liquid waste of any kind including paint, oil and chemicals, etc.
- Swimming pool chemicals
- Hazardous and offensive wastes including asbestos
- Car body parts in excess of 50kg in weight and/or 1.5 metres in length
- Car parts including coil springs
- Motor vehicle tyres
- Car batteries, and
- Over-length items of any nature
Residents are responsible to maintain the stacks of material placed out for collection in a safe manner.
This collection is also applicable to sports clubs in Monash Council buildings. Please call to arrange collection points.
Council does not approve of scavenging.
