Expression of Interest for appointment to Council's Audit Committee

Monash Council is seeking to appoint an independent committee member to Council's Audit Committee. The Audit Committee is an independent advisory committee to Council consisting of a minimum of three members including the Mayor (Chairperson), one other Councillor as well as up to two independent members.

In December 2005 the Council adopted a policy to specify fixed 3 year terms for appointment to the Audit Committee effective from 1 April 2006 and 1 April 2007 respectively. Current members are eligible to reapply.

Intending applicants should have extensive senior business and/or financial management and experience, gained in either the private or public sectors and be tertiary qualified in Business, Commerce, Accounting or other related disciplines. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate extensive analytical and strategic management and reporting skills and experience. Council has a preference to appoint an individual who either resides or works in the municipality, although this is not essential. Remuneration for the position is set by the Council and will be discussed with the preferred applicant.
