Local Mexicans Get Seniors Swinging
The Waverley Retirement Activities Group (WRAG) held their annual Dinner Dance at the Wheelers Hill "Best Western" International Hotel in Jells Road, Wheelers Hill on Tuesday 27th October. What a fantastic evening!
The highlight of the night was the local Mexican entertainers, Jalisco & Tequila. They were first sighted by WRAG organisers, Helmut and David, at the Monash Seniors Festival PALS Expo in September and were immediately booked for the Dinner Dance.
After a beautiful dance demonstration (and some unforeseen technical difficulties with the CD player) they really got everyone up and swinging! The Mexican hat dance and the conga line were followed by Jean who 'volunteered' to accompany them singing La Bamba.
Everyone was exhausted and the evening wasn't even half over! Keyboard player, Bill Kerr, provided some more traditional dances, such as the Pride of Erin and the Barn Dance but things soon livened-up again when he played the Hokey Pokey and then the Chicken Dance.
Three members failed to make it to the Jonola cards game the next night at Glenys & David's, claiming 'dancing exhaustion'!
