New playground

Children in Oakleigh have a new source of fun, with a playground opening in Warrawee Park in early February.

A mini maze and a carousel are among the features of the new playground which is best accessed off Drummond Street.

Council spend about $260,000 to create the playground, which was designed so that it could be used by children of all ages and abilities.

After seeking ideas from local children and parents, Council designed a playground that includes lots of different equipment, colours and textures.

There is a mini maze, a climbing tower with a high slide, swings, an accessible tunnelling climbing structure with a slide, and an area to play ball games.

It is the fourth accessible playground to be redeveloped in Monash since 2008 when Council committed to upgrading its five accessible playgrounds within five years.

Work to redevelop the fifth playground - in Brickmakers Park (Oakleigh) - is expected to begin later this month and be completed by June.
