Recreation Strategy
Outcomes of the Recreation Services Strategic Plan's first year included:- Finalising the management structure and operational budgets for the new Clayton Community Centre
- Overseeing increases in attendance, learn to swim, health club membership and annual turnover at the Monash Aquatic Recreation Centre
- Contributing to the design and operational management of the new Wellington Reserve Community Centre, the Electra Reserve Multi Purpose Venue developments
- Supporting the celebration of the International Day of Older Adults
- Working with local primary schools and the Oakleigh Recreation Centre to develop a greater awareness of healthy lifestyle options.
- Monitoring local playing trends at Council's golf courses and master planning works at the Glen Waverley course
- Monitoring potential overuse of sporting fields, maintenance levels and the effects of the recent drought conditions on these community assets
- Facilitating partnerships between Council, peak sporting bodies and government to increase sport, recreation and leisure opportunities.
