Oakleigh Pool
An extensive public consultation process was undertaken during the course of the year on the future redevelopment options for the aquatic facilities at the Oakleigh Recreation Centre.
Following this process, Council resolved to refurbish and heat the current 50 metre and diving pools and provide new changing amenities, water treatment, heated leisure water and outdoor spa. Council has begun the design process and will be making an application to State Government under its 'Better Pools' funding program for a financial commitment to the estimated $7.0 mln cost.
It is planned to open the new aquatic facilities for the 2009/2010 summer season.
