Strategic Objective 4: A Liveable City

4.2 Development

Activity Centres

Each major Activity Centre has a trader association, which liaises with Council and actively promotes their centre. There has been an on-going emphasis in assisting various traders associations and chambers of commerce in Monash who are competing with large surrounding centres such as Chadstone, Forest Hill and Knox.

Mount Waverley, Pinewood and Clayton Activity Centres have promoted and enhanced their respective centres through self-funding promotional charges. Structure Plans for Brandon Park and the Monash Technology Precinct Specialized Activity Centre were also progressed.

Monash City Council, in partnership with Monash Trader groups and Neighbourhood Watch, were successful in receiving a 'Graffiti Clean Up' grant totalling $22,396 to purchase graffiti removal kits which are made available free to all traders in Monash.

The grants will also recognise the successful graffiti prevention and removal program implemented by Clayton Traders by providing them with anti-graffiti coating which will make graffiti removal easier.
