Multicultural Framework and Action Plan
The new Multicultural Framework and Action Plan 2009-2013 was endorsed by Council at its meeting in June 2009. The new Framework outlines Council's key priority strategies on how it will respond to the cultural, linguistic and religious diversity of the Monash community.
The Monash Interfaith Gathering was formally launched in March 2009. It has met quarterly and Council has continued to provide executive support to the group.
Monash City Council celebrated 'A Taste of Harmony' during Cultural Diversity Week in March 2009 with a lunch at the Monash Civic Centre.
Council's Community Grants Program continued as a major vehicle to strengthen partnerships with CALD communities. In 2009, over $480,000 (in cash and in-kind value) was provided to 66 multicultural groups to support their activities and to provide services to their members.
