Strategic Objective 2 - A Supportive Community
2.2 Children, Youth and Families
Family Day Care
Monash Family Day Care is a professional child care service, accredited with the National Childcare Accreditation, that offers quality care for children aged 0-12 years in the homes of carefully selected care providers. Family Day Care offers opportunities for children to learn through play and exploration in a small group environment that meets their individual needs. Full-time, part-time, occasional, vacation care and before and after school care is available to families who live, work or study in Monash.
At the end of June there were 368 families using the service, with 520 children being cared for in the homes of 64 registered care providers.
Family Day Care provides two weekly playgroups for care providers to attend with the children in their care.
During the year a new initiative was introduced to offer the children in care more cultural experiences such as live music and theatre. Two events were held and received overwhelming support from care providers and parents.
As part of its marketing plan to raise the profile of the service within the community, FDC was represented at three of Council's community festivals as well as 'Walk in the Park' during Children's Week. New promotional material including a rollaway banner, posters and fliers were developed and material was translated into Chinese.
