Street Party Assistance

Monash residents will now have free use of a mobile BBQ for street parties.

The BBQ, funded by a State Government program announced earlier this year, is on a trailer and includes a two burner hot plate, gas bottle, barbecue tools, fire extinguisher and a box in which drinks can be kept on ice.

The trailer can be picked up or may be delivered, depending on location, street closure signs are provided and Council can provide public liability insurance.

The Street Party Assistance Kit includes documentation on:
  • Guidance for planning a successful street party
  • Guidance on how to get approval from Council to close a street for a street party
  • How to apply for public liability insurance
  • How to obtain the use of the trailer mounted BBQ

The BBQ is available to residents holding street parties. Council has budgeted to cover the cost of the BBQ and the provision of signage for road closures, plus public liability insurance.

The kit provides the necessary application forms for road closures, the notifying of neighbours about the party and the hire of the BBQ. Ideally residents should allow six weeks to plan for and conduct a successful street party.
