Individual Sports Grants
1. Who Qualifies For Assistance
- Individual sports people who are residents of the City of Monash.
- Sports people participating in activities recognised by State and National Accreditation Bodies.
- Sports People participating in amateur sports
2. What the Grants Are to be Used For?
- Participation in state, national and international events.
- Specialised coaching.
- Equipment/Uniform
- Travel
- Accommodation
3. What Information Must be Included in My Application?
All applicants must provide the following information in addition to the completed application form.- A letter of endorsement from a local, state or national authority verifying the application.
- A summary of expenses indicating a breakdown of costs for which assistance is sought.
- Proof of City of Monash residency such as a Rates notice, Drivers Licence.
4. What Rules Apply to My Application?
- Applicants must apply in the round in which the event/activity is taking place.
- Assistance is available to participants only. Applications from officials/ referees are ineligible.
- Applicants will be required to declare if they are entitled to receive assistance under Commonwealth or State Sports Aid Programs or any other source of support.
- Athletes successful in receiving a grant will be expected to advise Council of their performances during supported activities and supply expense related receipts.
- Successful applicants will be required to acknowledge the City of Monash's assistance where possible and may be required to participate in promotional activities organised by the City of Monash.
- The City of Monash will determine the allocation of grants.
- A person is eligible to submit an application once per round and only once per financial year ( 1 July to 30 June).
5. Am I Still Eligible if I Have Applied Before?
- Applicants will only be funded once per financial year. (Financial year is from 1 July to 30 June)
- Applicants must show continued improvement in their performance to be eligible for continued assistance.
6. Who Will Receive Priority Assistance?
- Although priority will be given to those who have the potential to reach state, national and international standards, encouragement grants may be made available to athletes who, while they have not achieved these levels, show dedication to their chosen sport.
- Support will also be given to those individuals who represent traditionally disadvantaged groups e.g. people with disabilities, people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
7. How Will My Application be Evaluated?
- All applications will be evaluated as per the Sports Grant Guidelines.
- Applicants should appreciate that funds are limited and grants can only be made to a restricted number of applicants.
- To ensure your application is considered please attach all the required information to the application form (see application checklist attached).
8. When will I receive notification & payment of my grant?
- All applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their grant within 2 weeks of the funding round finishing date.
- Payment will be made upon completion of a Recipient Report and submission of receipts by the required date.
9. When are submissions due?
As funding is allocated quarterly applications must be received by Council before 5.00pm on the closing dates.
- 30 September 2008 (for events between 1 July and 30 September 2008)
- 31 December 2008 (for events between 1 October and 31 December 2008)
- 31 March 2009 (for events between 1 January and 31 March 2009)
- 12 June 2009 (for events between 1 April and 30 June 2009)
Incomplete or late applications will not be considered for funding.
