1. Enhancing Relationships with Sporting Groups
The key challenge with this objective will be to continue to assist established sporting groups to build the capacity to cope with future demands, support newer sporting pursuits that are emerging in Monash, whilst managing other sports and clubs that are undergoing significant growth.
Opportunities also exist to build the profile of high participation sports, through the use of key facilities within Monash to stage regional and state events, or house administrative operations for peak sporting associations.
Key outcomes over the next four years include:- Continued provision of clear and up to date policy direction for clubs, covering facility occupancy, facility planning, fees and charges, capital works programs, club management and increased shared use of facilities.
- An enhanced Club Development Seminar Series with increased attendance levels and capacity of clubs to provide strong administration to manage risk, the relationship with Council, club growth, fluctuating memberships and numbers of volunteers.
- Increased local participation as a result of furthering relationships with the peak bodies and other key sporting associations, including the staging of showcase sporting events and the establishment of sport development operations within the City
- The provision of research findings that track participation and trend levels over time for key sports, that allows for better planning of future infrastructure needs and challenges
- Increased accessibility of sporting and recreational facilities to all members of the community, including those with disabilities, through effective education of clubs
