2. Maintaining Responsible Facility Management
To build on the previously established good working relationships with Facility Operators will provide the focus for this objective.
The challenges that lie ahead include managing the requirement to improve facilities to maintain appeal, ensure that the roles and responsibilities of Operators and Council clearly reflect good governance and sport management practices and to assist facility operators to build capacity to recruit and retain skilled administrators.
Key outcomes for the next four years include:- Identified facility improvements, that provide innovative solutions to manage increased demand, capacity and changing leisure and sporting trends, within budget and resource limitations
- A program of works to support the design principles of the Glen Waverley Golf Course Master Plan
- Increased knowledge of sound administration and business practices, volunteer recruitment strategies and opportunities to share information by management groups and facility operators
- Development of clear management plans and strategies for current major leisure and recreation facilities and future facility developments, including the Clayton Community Centre
- Implementation of strategies by facility operators to address and manage current declining participation trends in some activities, including golf
