6. Enhancing Opportunities for Older Adults
As the community continues to age, the challenge for this objective will be to capitalize on the success of the highly valued older adults' recreation program, while managing the need to increase its accessibility within resource limitations.
Key outcomes for the next four years include:
- An enhanced and varied program to encourage older adults to participate in active recreational activities that also assist in the development of social networks
- Expanded funding relationships with other levels of government, the private sector and community that have a stake in the well being of the ageing community
- The availability of a diverse range of information about accessible facilities and programs that offer opportunities to older adults within the community to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle
