MONASH SPORTSCENE

Inclusion - Make It Your Sport

Sport & Active Recreation Respite Program
The ERLS Sport & Active Recreation respite program currently runs 33 overnight 'trips' each year and makes the most of this time by introducing participants to a range of accessible, inclusive and welcoming sport and recreation clubs, organisations and community events across the Eastern Region of Melbourne.

Each trip features local sport and recreation clubs and organisations that are proudly working to ensure all members of the community are welcome and have opportunities to be involved. This is so everyone gets to share and enjoy the enthusiasm and energy that inclusive sport and recreation generates.

Participation doesn't just mean playing the sport itself. Clubs and organisation welcome spectators, new club members and supporters and of course are always in need of more volunteers. The ERLS team have the know-how and commitment to support these clubs through the ERLS Access for All Abilities Program whilst the ERLS Sport and Active Recreation Respite Program champions people with a disability to fully explore these new possibilities to suit their individual interests and lifestyles.

The trips currently begin Friday evenings at 6.00pm and finishes 5.00pm on Saturday and run regularly throughout the year.

Participants will be eligible if they:
  • Possess a keen interest to explore and participate in community sport & active recreation.
  • Reside in the Eastern Region, including the Shire of Yarra Ranges.
  • Are aged 16 years and older.
  • Reside full- time with a parent or a voluntary carer.
