Sport Leadership Grants for Women
About the grants
The Sport Leadership Grants for Women program is an initiative of the Australian Government that is jointly managed by the Australian Sports Commission and the Australian Government Office for Women. The program is aimed at providing women with an opportunity to undertake sport leadership training.
The grants are available in five key areas:- High performance coaching and officiating
- Indigenous women
- Women in disability sport
- Women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- Women in general sport leadership.
The program provides successful applicants with a one-off grant of up to $5000 for individuals (applications must be through an incorporated organisation) and up to $10,000 for incorporated organisations.
Hayley, a CEO of a sporting organisation, used funding to attend an Executive Sport Management Program;
"The six day intensive residential programme focused on providing senior executives with the most recent sport management knowledge and skills which enhance our leadership capabilities, made our communication more effective and advanced and refined our negotiation and marketing skills."
Katrina used the grant to complete a Level 2 Coaching Certificate for Basketball, this progressed her skills to coaching at the National Schools Championships;
"The course itself was of high quality. The opportunity to network with other coaches and be exposed to alternative methods and view points was invaluable to my development as a coach".
