Lights Shine at Gladeswood Reserve Tennis Club

Court one and two at Gladeswood Reserve Tennis Club now provides night tennis to its members and the Mulgrave community. The Club have already implemented Winter season programs to accommodate the demand for tennis and see it is a lifeline for their growing membership.

Club Manager, Marcos Amuhada is excited about the opportunities lights will provide the community. "It is already a growing trend for parents to come into the Clubrooms and enjoy a cup of tea / coffee whilst their children complete coaching sessions during the winter months. They can see the opportunity to begin participating in night tennis themselves".

The tennis club was one of four facilities to benefit from the amendments to Council's "Development Improvements to Council Owned Facilities and Reserves by Resident Sports Clubs Policy", announced in April 2008. In its first year, the program will also assist the Oakleigh Bowls Club, Wheelers Hill Baseball and Mulgrave Baseball Clubs at Gladeswood Reserve, and Southern Reserve, where Council can now utilise the facility outside daylight savings hours.

The program, subject to budget availability, will provide up to half of the cost of training and competition match lighting installations for approved projects based on a set of documented priorities. Sports clubs wishing to install training lights must first apply to and obtain approval from the City of Monash in the format detailed in the "Sporting and Recreation Facility Development Guidelines"..
