Trail Directions
Important note: This walk begins and ends at different points.
To start this walk at Vannam Drive begin at paragraph two.- Leave Holmesglen Station, cross Warrigal Road at the traffic lights and turn left. Cross Power Avenue and take the path on the right before the bridge following the creek through Ashwood Reserve. On your right you will pass Rugby and Hockey playing fields where many junior players have honed their skills. On reaching High Street Road turn right and for safety cross High Street Road at the Vannam Drive traffic lights.
- Enter Vannam Drive off High Street Road. Turn left into Malmsbury Drive and take the path on the right that runs along side Gardiners Creek. Walk along the boardwalk to the entry of the beautiful wetlands. The Friends of Gardiners Creek have worked successfully to make these wetlands a natural refuge. Watch closely for ducks, birds and even frogs. Please do not feed the animals!
- The path now turns right following the creek. Walk straight along the path for approximately 1 km (ignoring all exits). There is a footbridge on the left, on the right is also a great children's playground and an information board.
- Continue walking further along the path. On the left through the trees you will see Gardiners Creek Reserve. This is the home to many talented soccer players. Further along the path a fenced wetland appears on the right and there is also a footbridge that is an exit to Webb Street. Walk on the bridge to view the wetlands, do not cross it. Continue back along the path to the end of the walk at Highbury Road. This is the end of yet another fantastic locally developed nature trail.
