Independent Living Units
The City of Monash has Independent Living Units at both Elizabeth Gardens and Monash Gardens. The Independent Living Units are modern in their design and situated in peaceful, safe surrounds with a village like atmosphere.
Priority is given to unit residents when they need either low and high level residential care.
Elizabeth Gardens has four 2-bedroom units and four 1 bedroom units in close proximity to the aged care facility and public transport along Warrigal Road.
These Independent Living Units are independent from the aged care facility and residents are eligible for council community services.
Independent Living Unit residents are means tested for a licence fee and are charged a monthly service fee. This fee covers general maintenance, street lighting, rates and gardening.
Monash Gardens Village has forty 2-bedroom units, which are situated on Monash Drive above the aged care facility site. All units have a separate 1 car garage and are close to public transport along Wellington Road.
Again the Independent Living Units are independent from the aged care facility and residents are eligible for council community services. All units have a 24-hour emergency call bell, which is linked to the aged care facility.
Residents pay a market rate licence fee and are charged a monthly service fee. This fee covers general maintenance, street lighting, rates and gardening.
A shopping bus is available weekly for residents. Bus day trips and other outings are held regularly. Residents committee organises frequent social activities including spit roasts and carvery luncheons. Independent Living Unit Residents have access to activities at the Mulgrave Community Centre including Senior Citizens and Bingo.
