The Disability Access and Inclusion Framework and Action Plan 2009-2013 is in line with Council’s vision for the City of Monash as expressed in the Council Plan 2009-2013:"Our City will promote a sustainable, quality environment where the community is actively encouraged to participate in community and civic life to enrich the cultural, social, environmental and economic viability of our City"
The Policy and Action Plan is also guided by the strategic objectives of the Monash Council Plan 2009-2013 including the strategic objective of 'Our Community' which stipulates that:
"A Monash community, where people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, are embraced and supported and can access Council services they need. A Monash community that is connected and involved in shaping decisions that affect them".
The Disability Access and Inclusion Framework and Action Plan 2009-2013 also links with a number of other Council policies strategies and initiatives as follows:
- Metro Access Program (State Government funded Initiative)
- The Municipal Public Health Plan 2009-2013
- The Recreation Services Strategic Plan 2006-2010
- Municipal Early Year Plan
- Multicultural Framework and Action Plan 2009-2013
- Monash Arts and Community Development Strategy 2007-2010
