Monash Mobility and Access Plan

In August 2004, Council adopted its second Monash Mobility and Access Plan. The Plan has 7 key objectives. These are:
1. Communication
To ensure that people with a disability and carers have equitable access to information about Council services and facilities and are consulted in relation to service and facility planning and development.
2. Physical Infrastructure and Assets
To ensure that Council buildings, facilities, infrastructure and assets are safe and provide appropriate access for all users, including community members and Council staff who may experience a range of disabilities.
3. Urban Development
To ensure that the concept of 'access for all' is used as the framework for all urban development within the municipality.
4. Organisational Culture
To ensure that the Council demonstrates a commitment to providing equity of access for all people through its employment practices and its positive attitudes towards inclusion of people with disabilities in all Council activities, services and programs.
5. Environment, Recreation and Leisure
To ensure that people with disabilities can access both indoor and outdoor recreation and leisure opportunities provided to the whole community.
6. Service Development and Delivery
To ensure that services Council develops and delivers meet the needs of all service users in an equitable manner, through implementation of flexible service delivery methods designed to meet the needs of people with a range of disabilities.
7. Advocacy
To ensure that the rights of people with disabilities are supported and their needs are addressed by advocating for equity of access to services, facilities and community life outside the scope of Councils direct responsibility.
