Dads at Home (D.A.H)

Peter Bourke

Wondah (sic)

The great part about being a stay at home Dad is the chance to witness so many unique moments with your children. It is often the most simple acts that are the best to see. The other day we were at Nanna and Pappa's for lunch and Nanna dropped her fork.

My son, who is just over 2 years old, got off his chair and picked it up for her. Wonderful to see chivalry alive. In addition, Nanna said, "Thanks Liam" and Liam responded without hesitation and very casually, "You're welcome".

Yet another proud moment for Dad!

Blundah (sic)

It is great to watch and hear the speech in a child develop.

At times you can unintentionally get into strife as I recently found out. My son who mimics some of my phrases had heard me say to the dog, "Sit Hamish, sit!" as we prepare to cross the road. So on a day when we are waiting at the traffic lights ready to cross with a lady also waiting to cross standing next to us, my boy says, "S*it Hamish, s*it"!

It was clear to me that there are certain words that it is essential for you to teach your child the exact pronunciation of, unless you are willing to glow red with embarrassment.
