Educating, Connecting and Supporting families in Monash

And Baby Makes... 6!

When asked, what is it like raising a large family?

Janice had to admit.. noisy... very, very noisy. It seems like a constant battle by all for attention, but at the same time there is never a shortage of hugs and kisses in a family like ours. There is always someone to play with and to fight with, someone who needs help and someone to help.

Janice and her husband Mark have 6 children (including one set of twins) aged from middle primary school to newborn. She admits that at times it is a struggle to feed, clothe and organize her brood, and there is never enough money left after paying the bills.

The up side is that you do find creative ways to make it all work, and as parents and partners Mark and I have to work as a team.

The day seems to start earlier than anyone else's and it is a tight schedule to get everyone to and back from school, kinder, playgroup, not to mention doctors and other appointments. There is never a good time to be sick but sometimes it works best if we are all sick together.

Routine is important and if the schedule is disrupted there is temporary panic. However, I must say that you do become a much easier going and relaxed parent after number three. I wouldn't change a thing.
