Around the Bay in a Day enables all bike riders to participate in Australia's largest single day bike ride and meet the challenge of riding around Port Phillip Bay. Now into it's 17th year, Bicycle Victoria are gearing up for a great ride for 2009. Last year riders raised a record figure of over $500,000 for the official charity partner, The Smith Family.
The event offers a choice of five ride distances: 50km, 80km (school challenge), 100km, 210km and 250km. With the exception of the 100km ride, which starts in Sorrento, all rides start and finish at the same location - Alexandra Gardens in the heart of the city of Melbourne. The 2009 Around the Bay in a Day will be held on Sunday 18 October.
