Suicide

Youth suicide is a major problem in Australia. According to a report by the Australian Institute of Family Studies in 2000, suicide is one of the leading causes of death among young people aged 15-34 years.

There are many reasons why young people choose to take their own lives. Depression and mental illness have proven to contribute to a large number of suicide deaths, however, these are not the only causes. What is clear is that when a person feels suicidal they feel that there is no other way out of their situation.

There are a number of services available for people who are having suicidal thoughts. The following websites provide a range of information including how to spot suicide warning signs and where to go for help.
