Name Changes
Nursing Home level of care is now known as high level of care.
Aged Care Application & Approval Form
All people requiring residence of either low level or high level must be assessed by an Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS).
The Aged Care Application and Approval Form is valid for 12 months.

Basic Daily Care Fees
All residents pay a basic care fee. The basic daily care fee is $36.94. The non-standard resident contribution is $42.02 per day.
Fees are payable monthly by bank account direct debit.
Income-Tested Fees
The Department of Ageing will determine whether a resident pays an additional income-tested fee. This fee is calculated from information obtained from Centrelink or Veterans' Affairs.
Income tested fees are calculated as 5/12th of total assessable income over the income thresholds per fortnight for a single person or each member of a couple.
Clothing Labels
All clothing is to be labelled with either Cash's labels or labels will be ordered through our laundry supplier.
Restraint Free Environment
The City of Monash offers a restraint free environment that does not offer bed rails.
The Accommodation Bond
All residents except fully supported residents are required to pay an Accommodation Bond.
The current maximum Accommodation Bonds are as follows:
- Clarinda $138,500
- Elizabeth Gardens and Monash Gardens $350,000
Please note that the bond maximum is reviewed regularly and may not be applicable at the time of entry. A resident must have at least $174,500 in assets in order to be levied the maximum Accommodation Bond at Clarinda and have at least $386,000 in order to be levied the maximum Accommodation Bond at Elizabeth Gardens and Monash Gardens.
There are three types of payment methods for the bond. It may be paid as a lump sum, by monthly periodic payment or as a combination of the two methods.

Residents transferring from the hostel to the nursing home may be asked to continue with the bond arrangements until their discharge from nursing home. Bonds are refundable when the resident is permanently discharged, dies or if the certification of the facility lapses or is revoked.
Refunds are made within the required timeframes. Documentation is required to prove that the refund is being made to a legally authorised person.
The prudential statement accompanying this application form covers the prudential requirements for Accommodation Bonds. A copy of the latest statement will be given to all residents who have paid or been assessed to pay Accommodation Bonds within four months of the end of each financial year. A copy of the written guarantee of refund also accompanies this application package.
Respite Care
Each person approved for respite care is entitled to 63 days respite care per financial year in a low level care facility.
If further respite care is required, the Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS) may approve a 21-day extension.
The daily fee for respite care is $33.41 per day.
Respite residents do not pay an Accommodation Bond.
