Neighbour Day has five principal aims:- Strengthen communities and build better relationships with the people who live around us.
- Create safer, healthier and more vibrant suburbs and towns.
- Promote tolerance, respect and understanding.
- Break down community barriers.
- Protect the elderly, the vulnerable and the disadvantaged.
Getting Involved
'Neighbour Day' is a day to introduce yourself to your neighbours, especially older residents and any one who lives alone.
BUT EVERY DAY COULD BE NEIGHBOUR DAY!!
'Neighbour Day' is a day to introduce yourself to your neighbours, especially older residents and any one who lives alone.
BUT EVERY DAY COULD BE NEIGHBOUR DAY!!
- Participating in neighbour day is easy because you don't make a donation, you don't wear a ribbon and you don't buy a badge.
you don't even have to register or volunteer or set up a committee. - Say G'day to your neighbours.
- Make a special effort to introduce yourself to older residents in your street or anyone who lives alone.
- Leave your mobile and home telephone number for their use in an emergency.
- Agree to keep in contact.
What other ways can people stay involved in the community? Try to be involved in exercise, mixing with friends & neighbours, joining a club, regular family contact, good nutrition and proper medical attention. Get involved with young people in community groups, their young and vibrant physical and mental ability is contagious and they can learn lots from your knowledge.
