Positive Ageing Lifestyle Program - Winter 2009

Monash By Bike

On Saturday 4 April over 50 people came together at Caloola Reserve in Oakleigh to participate in the inaugural 'Monash By Bike' event.

At first it was thought the rain would keep everyone away – however with a bit of luck the clouds gave way long enough for the ride to take place.

The aims of 'monash by bike' was to promote cycling to the older adults community and people with a disability, and to engage with local cycling groups and individuals to bring them together for a common interest.

Riding is a fantastic social, recreational activity. it is a great way to get about, make new friends and get some rewarding exercise while in the process.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bicycle Victoria, Vision Australia, Older Persons Reference Group, the Syndal Bike Club and all the volunteers for supporting the monash by bike event, and i look forward to running the event again in 2010.

If you would like information on how you can enjoy cycling in the City of Monash please call 9518 3585.
