Street Sweeping and Cleaning
Sweeping operations occur six days a week on a 22-hour roster system. Daily cleansing occurs in major shopping centres, with six weekly cycles generally occurring in the residential areas.
Street sweeping assists in reducing the level of wastage entering drains which in turn pollutes our waterways and ocean.
Municipal operations have been assessed and conform to EPA and MWC Draft Best Practice Guidelines. Some 3,000 tonnes of material is removed annually through this cleaning regime.
