Supporting the Monash community to lead healthy, happy and fulfilled lives is a priority for Council.
In developing A Healthy and Resilient Monash: Integrated Plan 2017-2021 we have, for the first time, captured and drawn together priorities from all of the plans, activities and services that contribute to the health, happiness and wellbeing of the Monash community.
An ongoing process of consultation and engagement with Council’s community partners and residents will be enacted during the life of the plan. The Plan will be governed by nominated Councillors and Council’s advisory committees associated with the Plan.
For more information, please see the report which Council considered at its meeting on 31 October 2017: Council Meeting - 31 October 2017, item 2.1 (PDF, 138KB)
Following Council endorsement, the Plan has been submitted to the Victorian State Government for adoption in accordance with the legislative requirements of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008.
A Healthy and Resilient Monash: Integrated Plan 2017-2021
This Plan combines all the areas within Council and the community that help define a healthy city. It highlights 30 major health and wellbeing priorities which we will strive to improve over the next four years.
It identifies all the different sectors of our community and their specific priorities, including those with disabilities, our multicultural community, concerns about community safety, gender equity, sexual orientation, age friendly, sport and recreation, libraries, neighbourhood houses, arts and culture, children, young people and families, place making and community grants.

Early in 2017, Council invited our community to tell us their priorities about staying well and healthy and to give us their views on ways to foster more connected, inclusive and respectful communities. The findings of this research have been published now in our report Monash 2021 and Beyond (PDF, 2MB)
We have taken notice of these priorities and views in developing one integrated draft plan, A Health and Resilient Monash: Integrated Plan 2017-2021.
Council sought community feedback on the plan until Thursday 28 September 2017.
