Improving the recognition, inclusion and understanding of the City of Monash LGBTIQ community.
Council will explore ways to provide services, programs and networks that are more inclusive to Monash’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer/Questioning (LGBTIQ) community.
At the October 2018 meeting Council endorsed to explore the proposed recommendations from a community consultation in August, which provided vital feedback and support to advance Monash LGBTIQ residents’ equal participation and inclusion in community life.
More information is available in the Report to the Council Meeting held on 30 October 2018 (pdf, 324KB) .

The consultation included an online survey and workshops with participants identifying issues and barriers they experience including a lack of LGBTIQ specific programs and events in the municipality, discrimination, a lack of representation and some saying they felt unsafe to express their sexuality in public for fear of harassment.
