At its meeting on 24 February 2015, Council voted 'no' to a proposal to sell a piece of land in Oakleigh.

The land is located at the corner of Hanover Street and Atherton Road, Oakleigh.

Background Information

The proposal was that a developer purchase the site for $5.05 million.

The proposed development was for a seven storey mixed use development with carparking including:

  • A 77 space basement carpark for the retail component of the development with access being provided from Hanover Street
  • Retail uses at ground level consisting of a major tenant such as a supermarket and 3 small retail shops
  • 6 levels of residential apartments consisting of:
    • 12 x one bedroom
    • 86 x two bedrooms
    • 4 x three bedrooms
  • 116 parking spaces provided for the residents and some commercial tenants on levels 1 and 2. These spaces will be accessed from a vehicular lift from Oxford Street
  • Access for deliveries and servicing to occur from Oxford Street.
