Proposal for 40km/h speed limit

15 May 2015

Speed limit

Council has sought community feedback on a proposal to introduce a 40 km/h speed limit in the Oakleigh Activity Centre. The survey was closed on Friday 15 May 2015.

Council is expected to decide whether to proceed with this proposal at its meeting on 30 June 2015.

A lower speed limit would make the area safer for the many pedestrians visiting local shops and community facilities.

We are proposing that the speed limit be lowered from 50 km/h to 40 km/h in the below zone, which includes Hanover St, Portman St, Chester St, Drummond St and part of Atherton Rd.

More information on this proposal is available in the report that Council considered at its 31 March meeting:

A 40 km/h speed limit already applies in and around the Glen Waverley Activity Centre and around the Clayton Road shopping strip.
