Update - VCAT appeal 

An applicant has lodged a Failure to Determine appeal with the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) on a proposal for 80 dwellings at 855-869 Ferntree Gully Road, Wheelers Hill (the former gym site).

The matter has been listed for a Practice Day Hearing on Friday 22 February 2019 at 10am, Compulsory Conference on Monday 8 April 2019 at 10am and a three-day Merits Hearing commencing Wednesday 29 May 2019

Objectors can lodge a Statement of Grounds by Wednesday 6 February 2019

Background

Council has received an application on a proposal for 80 dwellings at 855-869 Ferntree Gully Road, Wheelers Hill (the former gym site).

Please note: this is a separate proposal by a different applicant for this site. The previous application was withdrawn and the land was sold to new owners. 

Feedback was formally sought by Tuesday 18 September 2018.

The applicant, PLC Consulting, proposes a $23 million development that includes:

  • Construction of 80 dwellings on the site, ranging between two and three storeys in height 
  • Dwelling mix comprises 61 x 3 bedroom dwellings and 19 x 4 bedroom dwellings, each provided with two car spaces 
  • A total of 18 visitor car spaces provided on site 
  • All vehicle access to the development will be from the existing crossover opening to Jells Road. No vehicle access is proposed from Ferntree Gully Road
  • Removal of vegetation.

Any person is able to lodge a Statement of Grounds with VCAT to have their concerns taken into consideration as part of the decision-making process.
