Thank you to local residents who provided ideas and feedback to help Council create a modern and fun playspace in Glen Waverley North Reserve.
Works to upgrade the playspace are expected to begin in late September 2018, with an anticipated completion in January 2019.
Here is the concept plan for the playspace:
Concept plan for Glen Waverley North playspace (pdf, 6MB)
Please note: The above design is a concept only. Whilst we believe that the construction of this playspace will be largely consistent with what is shown, this design is indicative rather than a precise specification.
Site fencing will be placed around the playspace works area, however access to the reserve will still be available to the community for both the active and passive spaces within the reserve.
Please note minor changes to the previous plan based on community feedback:
- Removal of 1 platform bench, however additional bench seat to be located next to play area
- Slight adjustment of pathways to avoid impacting existing trees.
Key play elements include:
- Double flying fox
- Timber adventure play unit
- Textured path and hopscotch
- Double swing with expression infant swing
- Basket swing
- Timber log steppers
- Table chess
- Installation of seating, picnic shelter and double BBQ
- Planting more trees and other vegetation.
We hope you will enjoy this improvement to your local neighbourhood.
Thank you to those who provide feedback – it will help ensure that we deliver a project that is valued by the local community.
In 2017, Council sought community ideas on what could be included in the new playspace.
Residents were able to provide their ideas to us through a survey or by meeting us at the Glen Waverley North Reserve playspace in early April 2017 to discuss their thoughts. We then sought feedback on our draft plan in March 2018.
