Monash residents should be aware of fake traffic and parking infringement notices being circulated on email.
This email includes fake information about a fine from a “city council” and should not be opened. These types of scams try to fool people into paying the fine, disclosing banking information, or downloading a virus that provides scammers access to personal computers and mobile devices.
Monash Council (and Victoria Police) never send fines via email and there will always be a logo and contact name and phone number on any correspondence.
To find out more about scams and how to protect yourself go to Scamwatch, which is run by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
