While women make up over 50 per cent of Victoria's population, they account for only 38 per cent of its councillors. The Victorian Local Governance Association (VLGA) is encouraging more women to look at a role on Council.
As part of the Local Women Leading Change campaign, VLGA's vision for the October 2020 local government elections is to see 50 per cent women elected.
If you are someone interested in your local community, passionate about its future and have a unique perspective to bring, consider running for local government.
VLGA has plenty of free resources online, including free workshops and training to help you get started.
