Footpath Trading Media Response

Questions and responses

Last month you put up an article about footpath trading - what does the line "However, currently some traders are not using their trading modules for the service of food." mean?

Some traders are using their footpath trading areas as outdoor drinking areas where a person may smoke but service is limited to drinks and packaged snacks.

Monash has a well-deserved reputation as a foodie destination because of its vibrant al fresco dining precincts and we want to make sure that the outdoor trading areas on our land are used in a way that promotes this foodie reputation to the fullest.

What are the training modules?

A trading module is a designated area, often defined by stainless steel discs installed on a footpath, which is used by a particular trader for their business.

And when would the review be?

The preparatory stages of the review are underway and we are working towards it being completed by 1 May 2018.
