New Heart Hospital in Monash
Questions and Responses
Could I please get a couple of comments re yesterday's announcement of a new Heart Hospital to be built at Monash University's Clayton campus.
What is council's reaction to this?
This is fantastic news for not only our community but all Victorians. What a coup to have Australia’s first dedicated cardiac care hospital located in Monash. It further cements Monash’s place as the hub of science, research and industry.
Monash University and Monash Health are world class institutions and key employers in our economic precinct known as the Monash National Employment and Innovation Cluster. Outside of the CBD this cluster sees more people travel into Monash to work than anywhere else in Victoria.
What will it mean for the community?
Our community already has world class healthcare available at Monash Medical Centre and Children’s Hospital and now this stand-alone Victorian Heart Hospital will add to these incredible health facilities. It will also provide more opportunity for local jobs and businesses to provide services to the health sector.
