Oakleigh Community Hall useage

Question and responses

I'm just doing a story about the proposed development at 2-4 Palmer St.

Local residents were saying the council-run hall nearby already gets a lot of usage.

Can you please tell me a bit about the hall, how much use it gets, how many people etc?

There are 12 groups that use Oakleigh Hall on a regular basis.

These include a number of different groups such as senior citizens, yoga, maths and English tuition, the city band and a playgroup.

Some groups attend a couple of times a week, some only once a month.

The hall is used for a total of 229 hours a month (based on a four week month) with around 3,310 people attending for different activities.

It is also used for ad-hoc or once off bookings of meetings and quiet evening functions, on average twice a month ( 10 hours & 200 people per month)

The venue has an 11pm curfew to ensure residential properties nearby are not disturbed.
