Council will start works to improve pedestrian safety at four intersections around the Oakleigh Shopping Precinct commencing Monday, 29 October 2018.
These works include the construction and installation of raised zebra crossings and supporting concrete and paving works, drainage, line marking and lighting and are expected to be finished by Friday, 30 November 2018.
The works will take place in order at the following locations:
- Hanover Street, north of Portman Street
- Hanover Street/Portman Street Intersection
- Station Street/Portman Street Intersection at two locations (west and southeast legs)
There will be some disruption to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Signage and traffic management will be in place to guide you through and around the works.
Nearing the completion of works, the road will be closed to allow for asphalting works at each of the intersections for a short period of time. These works will take place at night to minimise traffic disruption and bus services. Detours will be in place for these asphalt works.
