Victoria's lowest average rates

Monash has the lowest average rates of all 79 councils in Victoria.

On average, Monash ratepayers pay about $400 less in rates per year than the statewide average. This has been achieved through measures such as having a smaller workforce than similar councils.

The statewide figures for 2016/17 are yet to be released. However, it is already known that Monash will retain its position as having the lowest average rates of all Victorian councils. This is important as it helps reduce financial pressures on local residents.

The below graph shows the average rates and charges in neighbouring council areas for the year to 30 June 2017.
