On 19 September 2014, the Victorian Government introduced VicSmart, a 10 day permit application process that local councils will follow for straightforward planning applications.
The Victorian Government has set out specific classes of applications that qualify for VicSmart. Where an application qualifies, Council must make a determination within 10 business days.
Two key differences between VicSmart and the regular permit process are that VicSmart applications are not advertised to the public and the information that applicants are required to submit is predetermined.
Not all permit types will be eligible for the VicSmart process, and advise that future applicants visit Council's Civic Centre to find out more, before submitting their application.
To enable Council to meet the 10 day timeframe, it is important that applicants submit all the required information with their application and pre-lodgement discussions with Council are encouraged.
Planning advice can be obtained either in person at the Civic Centre between 8.15am - 5.00pm or by phone by calling 9518 3555.
For more information and to find out the specific applications that qualify for VicSmart, visit the Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning website.
What is VicSmart?
VicSmart is a new simple, fast track system for straightforward planning applications.
Key features of VicSmart include:
- A 10 business day permit process
- Applications are not advertised to the public
- Information that applicants are required to submit is predetermined
Does my application qualify for VicSmart?
Not all application types will be eligible for the VicSmart process.
To determine whether your application qualifies to be processed via VicSmart, please contact Council on 03 9518 3555 or visit the Monash Council office at the Civic Centre 293 Springvale Road, Glen Waverley 8.15am - 5pm, Monday to Friday (closed public holidays). A planner is available at office to discuss your application.
For detailed information about VicSmart applications, including VicSmart application types and information requirements, please refer to the VicSmart (Department of Environment, Land Water and Planning).
How do I submit a VicSmart application?
Council strongly recommends that you submit your application in person by attending the City of Monash Civic Centre office, between 8.15am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.
This will enable your application to be checked by a planner before submitting and to help reduce any delays in processing your application.
